Overview
of Rosemarie Sokol |
|

My
main research interest
is the role of whining speech in attachment relations. In the
broader realm, I am interested
in the evolution of attachment vocalizations, particularly whines,
cries, and motherese. These three vocalizations share similar
acoustic structures, and are all well-suited for getting the
attention of listeners. The similarities of attachment
vocalizations implies a similar origin. Finally, I am interested
in the relationship between language and non-verbal (prosodic)
vocalizations.
